A new whitepaper from Manatt Health, funded by Blue Shield of California, makes the case for widespread and aligned adoption of “hybrid” payment models to support primary care’s future in California.
According to Manatt, a well-designed “hybrid” payment model offers providers:
- more predictable revenue,
- opportunities to increase overall revenue by achieving positive health outcomes for their patient populations, and
- the ability to organize care teams more rationally around patient needs through an increase in population-based fees and performance-based incentives.
The paper cites our coalition with Purchaser Business Group on Health’s California Quality Collaborative (CQC) as an avenue through which California payers and purchasers can work together on implementation of a multi-payer, hybrid payment model. It also cites our Align. Measure. Perform. program as an established approach to aligned data sharing between providers, payers, and purchasers in California.
